Historic Stroll through County Seat
Educates, Promotes Fitness and Charity
Prince Frederick, MD / Wednesday, March 31, 2017 - About a dozen local residents revisited local history recently (March 25) during a brisk stroll through the county seat hosted jointly by the Calvert County Historical Society, Project ECHO and the "Ready, Set, Exercise Calvert! Couch to 5K Campaign."
The 25 to 30-minute stroll began at the society's office in Prince Frederick and made key stops at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, the Phillips House, the watershed near the old library and Kings Park.
The historic stroll was the first of several yearlong health and wellness public activities led by K Conway Physical Therapy that has set the goal of making Calvert County the healthiest county in the state and nation, while benefiting Project ECHO, a local nonprofit organization. The 'Couch to 5K Campaign' campaign starts with citizens signing up and ends with participation in Project ECHO's Turkey Trot Thanksgiving Day 5K Walk-Run in the fall.
